Excursions
The surrounding area is ideal for short to long excursions.
After about 20 minutes of walking the visitor can reach the cave of Ithakisio,
the great Greek painter,
who lived permanently for 10 years in a hollow in the rock and was inspired by the Muses of Olympus,
created great paintings.
Trails
It can also wander along the paths first blazed by Jossos Apostolidis,
one of the greatest mountaineers of our country,
The more adventurous can start from the refuge and reach the Muses Plateau and Mytikas.
The refuge
The shelter is a base especially for winter climbs,
as it is open all year round,
while for the summer months, climbing routes have already been opened on a nearby rock,
enabling climbers to practice their favourite sport.
